古典ギリシア語初級（前半）／Elementary Greek (first half)

授業の目標

古典ギリシア語の初級文法を一年かけて学び，新約聖書やプラトーンの哲学作品などを，辞書と文法書を使って読めるようにする．

This course introduces students to elementary Greek grammar. By the end of the academic year, students will be reading some passages from the New Testament or the Plato’s dialogues etc. with the help of a dictionary and a grammar book.

授業の内容

I. 概要

春学期の授業の主な内容は次の三つである．

  1. ギリシア語アルファベット24文字を覚える．
  2. 名詞の格変化を覚える．
  3. 名詞の格の概念を覚え，それにもとづいて短めの簡単な文を訳す．

ギリシア語アルファベットの多くの文字はローマ字と似ているので，Aは一週間〜二週間かけてしっかり勉強すれば誰でも覚えられる．Bは覚える量が多いので，おおむね一学期間をかけて覚えていくことになる．Cには少々センスが要求される．練習問題をこなしていくことで，少しずつその方法を覚えていく．

II. 授業の進め方

授業は次のように行う．第１回はa, d, e, fのみ行う．

  1. ［授業前］必要があれば教材を事前にダウンロードしておく．
  2. ［授業開始］小テストを実施．
  3. 練習問題の答え合わせ（受講生が順番に発表）．
  4. 教材を配布し新たな文法事項を学習する．
  5. 次回の小テストと練習問題の指示．
  6. ［授業後］小テストのための暗記を行い，練習問題を解いてくる．

III. ギリシア語アルファベットの暗記（第３回授業時まで）

第３回の授業からはギリシア語アルファベットの読み書きができるようになっていることを前提に授業を進める．

ギリシア語アルファベットの読み書きができるようになっているかは次の二つで確認することができる．

  1. 第２回，第３回の小テストで自己点検
  2. 第１回と第２回の後に課される簡単な提出課題（添削して各自に返却する予定）

やむを得ず第１回，第２回の授業に参加することができなかった学生は提出課題を後で提出することができる．

I. Overview

The three main contents of the spring semester classes are as follows:

  1. To learn the 24 letters of the Greek alphabet.
  2. To learn the declension tables of nouns.
  3. To learn the concept of the case of nouns and to translate short, simple sentences.

The Greek alphabet is very similar to the Roman alphabet, so anyone can learn if they study it carefully for a week or two (A). There are many declension tables of nouns to memorise, so it takes about a semester to learn them (B). It takes time to acquire the concept of case, so this is acquired through repeated translation exercises (C).

II. Classroom procedures

The classes will be conducted as follows. In the first class, only a, d, e and f will be given.

  1. [Before class] Download the teaching materials in advance if necessary.
  2. [Start of class] Quiz.
  3. Answers to exercises (students’ presentations in turn).
  4. Hand out materials and study new grammar points.
  5. Instructions for the next quiz and exercises.
  6. [After class] Memorise the material for the quiz and complete the exercises.

III. Memorisation of the Greek alphabet (by the third class)

From the third class, it is assumed that students are able to read and write the Greek alphabet.

The following two checks will be made to ensure that students are able to read and write the Greek alphabet:

  1. Self-checking with quizzes in the second and third classes.
  2. A short submission assignment after the first and second sessions (to be corrected and returned to each student).

Students who are unable to attend the first and second classes due to unavoidable circumstances can submit their assignments later.

  2. 文字と音韻（２）：気息記号とアクセントについて学ぶ．Learn about breath marks and accents.
  3. 名詞（１）：第１曲用名詞の変化形を学ぶ．Learn the first declension nouns.
  4. 名詞（２）：第２曲用名詞・第１／２曲用形容詞の変化形を学ぶ．Learn the second declension nouns & the first and second declension adjectives.
  5. 名詞（３）：第３曲用名詞の変化形を学ぶ．Learn the third declension nouns.
  6. 名詞（４）：第３曲用名詞の変化形を学ぶ（つづき）．Learn the third declension nouns (cont.).
  7. 名詞（５）：第３曲用名詞（つづき）・第３曲用形容詞の変化形を学ぶ．Learn the third declension nouns (cont.), and the third declension adjectives.
  8. 名詞（６）：代名詞の変化形を学ぶ．Learn the declensions of pronouns.
  9. 名詞（７）：代名詞の変化形を学ぶ（つづき）．Learn the declensions of pronouns (cont.).
  10. 名詞（８）：数詞・副詞について学ぶ．動詞について概説する．Learn about numerals & adverbs; An overview of verbs.
  11. 動詞（１）：ω動詞の現在組織の変化形を学ぶ．Learn conjugations of ω-verbs.
  12. 動詞（２）：ω動詞の現在組織の変化形を学ぶ（つづき）．Learn conjugations of ω-verbs (cont.).
  13. 動詞（３）：μι動詞の現在組織の変化形を学ぶ．Learn conjugations of μι-verbs.
  14. 予備．Spare.

活用される授業方法

小テストの実施（配布する紙に筆記），練習問題の解答等（テキストの音読・和訳）の口述と教員からの質問に対する回答．

授業時間外（予習・復習等）の学習

復習は毎回４時間程度必要．復習の内容は毎回プリントを配布して指示する．復習の内容は名詞や動詞の変化表を覚えることと，練習問題を解くことの２つ．

授業を欠席した場合は，遅れを取り戻すために授業時間と授業時間外の時間を含めて次の回までに最低６時間の学習が必要．なお，やむを得ず授業を欠席した場合はCanvas LMSを用いて練習問題等の添削や，授業で扱った内容に関する質問を行うことができる．欠席した回の小テストを別の回に受験すること，欠席した回に行うはずだった練習問題の発表を別の回に振り替えることは可能なので，各自申し出ること．

About four hours of review are required for each class. There are two review tasks: memorising the tables of declension or conjugation, and translation. Specific instructions will be given each time, so review should be carried out accordingly.

If you miss a class, you will need to study at least six hours before the next session, including class time and time outside class time, to make up for the delay. If you are unavoidably absent from a class, you can use the Canvas LMS to correct exercises and ask questions about the content of the class. It is possible to take the quiz of the missed class in a different class, or to transfer the presentation of the exercises that were to be done in the missed class to another class.

成績評価方法・基準

学期中に随時提出するレポートはギリシア語アルファベットの読み書きに関するもの（第１回，第２回授業後に課す）．

テキスト

プリントを使用する．プリントは授業時に紙媒体で配布し，Canvas LMSにもPDFファイルで用意する．

参考書

特に購入の必要はないが，中級講読へ進む学生向けに授業中に指示をする．

履修にあたって求められる能力

特に予備知識は必要ないが，次に挙げる簡単な英文法の用語を復習（確認）しておくとよい：動詞（他動詞・自動詞，１人称・２人称・３人称，能動態・受動態），名詞・代名詞，形容詞，副詞，接続詞，母音・子音．

学生が準備すべき機器等

  1. 情報機器を持参する必要はない．配布資料は紙媒体とCanvas LMSにPDF形式で用意する．
  2. 課題提出先はCanvas LMS（紙媒体でもよい）．課題は手書きしたものをスキャンまたは写真に撮って提出すればよい（ワープロソフトを使わなくてよい）．
